Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Fray
Thanks to the numerous people who beta'd these or left me comments and encouragement.
- No. 2. Post-Buffy S2 AU. Angel's soul lands in Xander. Ensemble. R.
But all the anchors of her world were unraveling, falling into dark waters. Giles. Buffy. Xander. Sometimes she dreamt she was drowning, and the shapes she glimpsed through the slow fall of light through water, through waves, the great and terrible gears--no. That wasn't why she'd come. - Merricat, Said Constance. Buffy S2. What Angel's soul experiences of Angelus, through Miss Edith, a frog, and Mr. Gordo. Surrealism. PG-13, or maybe R.
She didn't speak through the dainty black silk wound over her mouth and around her head, but the question was clear enough: sugar or milk? - The Taste of Your Eyes. Buffy "Becoming" flash meditation. PG-13.
You weren't good at lying even then. You could hear their voices, your mom's and dad's, as you breathed across your mouth in the mirror. Silencing that ghost-you in the glass because you couldn't silence them. - Itineraries. Angel S1 AU quasi-humor, divergences starting with "Blind Date." Cordelia (POV) and Wesley and the library demon and shanshu and the good fight. ~4,000 words, PG-13 (mild language).
Cordelia spent the next day with a middle-aged professor who was convinced that Something Evil had escaped from his rare edition of The King in Yellow. It took an hour to get a coherent account out of him and another hour to calm him down when she said she'd get the Cliff Notes. - Tastes Like Chicken. Humor way-it-never-was drabble set during Angel S2/Buffy S5. G.
"You had pesto for lunch. On my coat." - In/Out. Buffy S5 after "I Was Made to Love You" (hadn't seen later episodes at time of writing). Buffy/Spike and grief and breathing. NC-17.
The night is a new, raw thing, scraping outside the crypt. Asking to be let in, although it dwells here implicitly. Crypt, shadows and spice, vampire. Even she can figure that out. - But None I Think Do There Embrace. Buffy S5 vignette, post-"The Body"/during "Forever." Angel/Buffy. Irish ballads and gravestones and hell. PG.
Once upon a grave, when the night is too warm for peace and too cool for pain, she comes to him this little space. He forgets, when she's away, how light her bones are, as if they were empty of marrow. - Clay. Buffy S6, a response to "Bargaining." An elegy for the Buffybot. PG-13.
She could list, like the alphabet, the weapons to which her hands were attuned. She had a face, and it was a face that pleased him, a mirror-image not forbidden to him, unlike his own. This gave her the first faint blush of pleasure. Salt was upon her, that unforgiving pillar, although she did not realize this. So she spoke, no zombie new-risen. She spoke the words he had caused to be written upon her forehead, the rituals of desire. - Dear Diary. Angel S1-S2. Angelus has issues. PG-13.
It would be so much more satisfying to write this in blood but Soul-Boy here doesn't like to play with his food anymore. - Morale. Angel S3 "Birthday"-verse AU. PG-13.
Wesley forgot about his missing arm. Gunn didn't. - Between. Angel S4, spoilers for "Deep Down." Angel/Lilah. It's always about Wesley. NC-17.
Angel doesn't really see Lilah when he looks at her. She is a breath of malice, lipstick and briefcase and guillotine smiles, and he doesn't see any of it. - Inside, Outside. Angel S4, spoilers for "Deep Down" and "Soulless." Tides and cages. Drabble. PG.
- Submerged. Angel S4, post-"Soulless," mild divergences. Angel(us) and ensemble. When suicide is not enough. PG-13.
He knows exactly what's looking out of his eyes. He thinks Wesley (no names, no names) is responding to it in all the wrong ways. Watchers always did have a weakness for shadows; wanted to drink from the dark chalices, because all that ink on parchment never measured up. - One Neck, Two Chains. Angel S4, post-"Soulless" AU. Angelus/Wesley. Angelus is Wesley's project, or maybe the other way around; or, the kinkiest thing they could do to each other, without actual kink. R.
"Let's see. Tonight's hopeless: Three drunks, a stray cat--I thought you'd like that--one mugging, and a junkie. Plus a brace of virgins." He tilted his head. "No, let me think. Probably not virgins. Girls just aren't what they used to be. You?" - Hookflash. Dawn, Angelus ca. "Salvage." Angel S4 and Buffy S5 spoilers. PG.
Actually, Dawn did know it wasn't Angel on the other end of the phone. Not that Angel didn't also have a tendency to bring down the universe around him, or at least the local zip code. - Ready Aim. Angel/Fred in a stolen moment during Angel S4's "The Magic Bullet." NC-17.
Holding still was something he could do, although it reminded him of that cage and the shades of dark in the depths of the sea. He wouldn't have minded tasting her mouth, sweetness and blood so, so close to the surface. - Candles. Angel S3-S4 AU, spoilers through "Home." plus assorted spoilers for Buffy S6. If Angel had had a daughter, among other changes. PG-13.
End world peace and you got to make a wish, kind of like blowing out birthday candles. No one ever thought about what happened to the candles. - Going Rogue. Angel S5 AU, divergences starting with "Home."
Then Angel came out of the elevator with Lilah smiling behind him, and Wesley knew. - Singularity. Angel post-"Home": Fred tries to figure out what's gone wrong. R.
Fred has dreams of Lilah, and she's not sure why. Red red lipstick and hangman's scarf: Lilah has never liked her, but Lilah's dead, and Fred, quiet soul, won't speak ill of the dead. Her dreams are another matter: I have a secret, Lilah leans over her and whispers, breath tickle-sweet and eyes bright with malice. The man you love has a secret. - Unwritten. Angel S5 AU. Angel, Wesley. In excising the demon, he excises himself. R.
Files and Records has gotten to know him quite well. It makes no difference to her whether he is written in innumerable volumes, shifting statistics, or dead flesh and stillborn air. They have that in common, along with memory. Hers is wider-ranging. His suffices. - Where the Heart Is. Angel S5, post-"Soul Purpose." AU vignette. Angel wins and loses the showdown. PG.
The gun is not his weapon....he wishes for the staccato incantation of Wesley's gunfire. - Apocalypses and Other Fairytales (Keys remix). Remix of Apocalypses and Other Disasters by Netgirl. Buffy post-"Chosen," Angel S5 pre-"Not Fade Away" AU. Willow/Fred, R.
Once upon a time, there lived a girl in a cave. The girl was clever and the girl was quick, and no matter what monsters came after her, the girl always got away. But the joke was on the girl, for the cave became her cage. - Countdown: Recruits. Angel S5 AU rider on "Power Play"; divergences starting with "Why We Fight." Angel rounds up--allies is not the word. Implied violence.
Numbers fourteen and fifteen had thought themselves free of him. Five hours locked in a cellar with him and they drank his holy water so he couldn't make them talk anymore. - Eurydice. Angel S5 post-"Not Fade Away." Angel, Faith, and Wesley. Backward glances. PG-13.
And it's not death because he wouldn't come through the shadows into a mausoleum to find a woman and a man, a Slayer and a vampire, anima and animus. (For some reason he expected Lilah, alter to his conscience.) - In a Handful of Dust. Angel S5 post-"Not Fade Away." Angel(us)/Wesley. The Hyperion. Folie à deux. R.
From a room down the hall, he filled a glass with water, and drank. He refilled the glass. The water tasted nothing like dust or derision, and any salt in it was his own. - Nor All Your Piety Nor Wit. Angel S5 post-"Not Fade Away." Gunn and Illyria. The forever fight. Can be read as a companion piece to the above. PG-13.
Wesley had called it the Hyperion, or the alley. They were proximate; they had the same shadow. - Shade. Angel S5 post-"Not Fade Away." Angel, Wesley, complements. PG-13.
Angel was pacing, pacing, sword in hand. It was bright where the blood hadn't begun to congeal on it. It was not, Wesley understood, an occasion for cleaning swords, or pausing to clean up in the aftermath. - Radio Free. Angel S5 post-"Not Fade Away" and post-Fray: Future Vampire Slayer. Angel and Gunn in the aftermath. PG.
Gunn didn't recognize him until he saw the sword. It wasn't that the sword was extraordinary. He'd seen a lot of them in the past several years and most of the time a sharp edge and some incantations would do the trick. - Signed Twice, Rolled the Dice. Angel S5 post-"Not Fade Away" and Buffy S7 post-"Chosen." Angelus, Faith, and fallout. PG-13.
California attracted apocalypses the way my mom's apartment attracted stray cats. Now Angel had added to the mess. I knew it the second I heard Buffy's voice on the phone, all the things she was trying not to say. - Half-Moon. Angel/Nina mid-S5 (spoilers by implication for "Power Play"). Angel and Nina go hunting. PG-13.
Angel picked up the phone and started dialing that familiar number before he quite realized what he was doing. He was about to hang up when he heard Nina's voice on the other end: "Hello?" - Hellbound. Wesley and Faith/Angelus, AU from "Not Fade Away." Adult.
I thought it would be harder to get used to Los Angeles' devastated landscape. Turns out I'm a pretty adaptable creature. It's not that I'm glad the city's turned into a demon-infested wasteland. But when you get right down to it, most of my life has been spent in some kind of wasteland. It's just that some are more literal than others. - Waiting. Angel S5 post-"Not Fade Away." Wesley and Doyle, among other things. PG.
"I keep expecting Cordy, you know," a man's voice said conversationally from the shadows to his left. There was--not a breeze exactly, but something like a draft, carrying the smell of cheap beer and wood shavings and, incongruously, pages left unturned upon the shelf too long. - Time's Arrow. Angel S5 post-"Not Fade Away." Sometimes the good fight finds you. PG. Sweet Charity fic for Amystar.
It was made of sheet metal and dubious prefab parts. Its windows were mazed with stress fractures and it creaked in the wind. But someone had rigged up a neon sign in blasphemously cheery orange, and the sign said, unmistakably, DINER. - Suicide Watch. Angel S5 post-"Not Fade Away." Shanshu is all or nothing.
Even in his dreams, Angel could tell when they held suicide watch. He was known to sleepwalk, coming out of impossible riddling conversations with dust-colored dragons only to find himself leaning out of a window, breathing the city's smoky air. - On Paper. Buffy/Angel futurefic drabble. G.
- The Empty City. Angel wakes up in a scoured L.A. with no memory--and then Buffy arrives. Post-"Not Fade Away," R.
He ventured out by night to raid the ruins of grocery stores for canned soup and chocolate bars, spent his days in the lopsided wreck of what had once been an office suite. One of the rooms contained piles upon piles of bones. Angel was sure some of them weren't human. - Hell Is Other People's Dishes - Silly Mary Sue fic with no UST whatsoever, just a lot of dishes. Post-"Not Fade Away." PG-13.
Angel wouldn't have called himself the foremost expert on hell, or hell dimensions, but he'd been around the block a time or two and he had a pretty good idea what to expect.... - Five Things That Never Happened to Angel. Angel series spoilers, various. PG-13.
He might be a monster, but he didn't have to make monstrous choices. - Five Things That Never Happened to Faith. Angel and Buffy series spoilers, various, plus spoilers for After the Fall #1.
- Sister Dark. Buffy and Angel and Fray, all post-series. Melaka has an encounter with Faith.
She was in a sunlit room, with bright creamy white wallpaper and stuffed animals on the dressers and the smell of blueberry scones drifting from downstairs. It was, in fact, the sort of room she might expect a little girl in the uppers to have, the sort of room Mel had never had for herself.
Angel and Bones crossovers
- Memorandum. Angel S2 spoilers and Bones 1.2 non-spoilers. Tessa isn't displeased. PG-13.
- Rearview. Angel post-"Not Fade Away" (series spoilers, plus various small Buffy spoilers), Bones in the vicinity of 1.1 to 1.3 (no spoilers). Angel, Booth, no conspiracies. PG-13.
He knew perfectly well why he'd dropped in. He'd showed up, dark clothes and briefcase and all. Sid had come to take his order at the bar. Stopped. Gave him a long, unsurprised look, and said he had just the thing. Which meant Sid didn't, and knew it, and it was okay. That hadn't happened in a long time. It felt--not good, exactly, but restful.
Angel and Firefly crossovers
- One Two. Angel (series spoilers) and Firefly (series spoilers) crossover AU. Fred/River, PG-13.
Astronomy is not something Fred had much time to consider, although nebulae and supernovae, the slow-stoked birth of stars, are bedtime stories she used to tell Feigenbaum.
Angel and Planescape crossovers
- In the Cards. Angel post-"NFA." Fallout and a Deck of Many Things.
Angel looked up. The sky was gray. Not cloudy gray, not misty gray, but a gray that made him wonder if his eyes weren't working right.
Angel and Supernatural crossovers
- On the Road. Jessica and Illyria find common cause. Angel post-After the Fall #1 and Supernatural post-S1.
When the gates of hell crashed open to admit a city entire, Jessica thought she'd failed after all. - The Demon Within. Angel post-"NFA"; Supernatural spoilers for S1 and S2. Common cause. PG.
Dean was not expecting the stranger standing by the Impala to have a British accent.
Angel and Veronica Mars crossovers
- The Right Combination. Angel post-"Not Fade Away" and Veronica Mars post-S1. Veronica Mars and an unexpected guest. PG.
Someone rearranged the inside of my locker. Again. It might even have been me--no, I keep track of these things.
Bones
- Archetypes. S1 ficlet with no particular spoilers, for Buymeaclue. Zach tries very hard. PG-13.
Zach had noticed that Jack was looking over his shoulder exactly a minute and forty-seven seconds ago. Forty-eight, now. - Zeroed. S1 Booth drabble with no spoilers. PG-13.
He would never admit it, but he's starting to like skeletons.
Bones and Buffy the Vampire Slayer crossovers
- Sunglasses. Bones S1, no spoilers; Buffy post-"Chosen" (S7). Buffy and Booth ficlet for Grimorie: Sometimes it's not about the sun.
Buffy wasn't the only person wearing sunglasses in the rain. She rather liked the rain, but she liked the sunglasses, too. Besides, it took too much effort to put them away.
Gundam Wing
- Antisocial. Mid-series spoilers. PG-13 meta ficlet: What is Wu Fei really like?
When Heero woke up, he was surprised to find Wu Fei typing at Heero's laptop. The tapping sound should have alerted him earlier. Heero was a restless sleeper even on the best of nights. - A Gundam Yuletide. Spoilers through DVD #8 (ep. 32?). Yuletide meta, among other things.
The space behind Heero was getting very crowded. Heero felt that if Duo breathed down his neck any more, he was going to break Duo's spine. "You can all get your own laptops," he informed Duo, Trowa, and Quatre.
Supernatural
- Protection Amulet. A silly ficlet. Gen, PG-13, no particular spoilers.
- Five Things That Never Happened to Missouri. Gen, PG-13, spoilers through mid-S2.
Miscellaneous Crossovers
- Falling. Post-series Buffy, Angel, and Angel Sanctuary, with a dash of Fray. Adult.
Falling's like flying: you get better at it the more practice you have, and oh, you've had so much practice falling, something even (especially) Angel and Wesley wouldn't have denied.
