Nonwebpages
"Diplomacy is the art of saying 'nice doggie' until you can find a rock."--Will Brown
Here you'll find all the webpages that I contemplated adding to the Pegasus Nest, then decided not to for reasons that should be obvious. This is purely frivolous.
- A list of the books I own.
- Why shareware can be awesome and, more importantly, why you should pay for it.
- Mac advocacy, as if the world needed another pro-Mac website. (The Mac OS X links are as far as I go in that direction. Well...okay. I can't resist the occasional dig.)
- Things I would rather have in the math curriculum, and for those LISPers out there, it's not a null list.
- Top 10 things I left Cornell without doing.
- Top 10 things I left Stanford without doing.
- Continuing education courses I'd love to take, but can't afford.
- An analysis of Yune's stick figures, except she'd kill me.
- Zen and the art of relationship disrepair.
- A case for neologisms and TLAs (Three Letter Acronyms, as they say at NASA).
- The joys of programming in Dylan, and never mind NOODLLE.
- All I needed to know I learned from watching other people play Virtual On (an arcade game).
- Anything political. Or more political than what exists, anyway.
- Why math is a lot more nonhierarchical as a discipline than Algebra I-Geometry-Algebra II might lead you to think.
- The number of times I've lost my wallet, only to find it again two days to two weeks later.
- A list of education jargon that I never want to hear again after massive overexposure. (Note that I'm all for the concepts being espoused, it's the combination of graphemes and phonemes that's doing me in.) Hint: "scaffold" is at the top of the list.
- A list of the animé series my friends have seen.
- Sf/f writers whom I would sell half my soul for the opportunity to meet. (Except, of course, David Dror is in possession of my soul.)
- What not to do as a teacher, substitute or otherwise.
- Some of the really dumb things students say. (Come on, folks. Rulers do not ever have an average length of six inches--yes, you may guess what this conversation was about pre-cover-up.)
- Annoying/stupid things people ask pregnant women.
