Chirality: Right-handed, but left-eye dominant. It screwed me up in riflery (a P.E. course I took at Cornell) before the instructor figured out what was going on. I was using a right-handed rifle with a corresponding right-eye sight and was the only person to completely miss the target on the first shot.

I have an atrophying reading and maybe writing knowledge of French (with help of dictionary); a beginner's reading/writing knowledge of German (with more help of dictionary); informal conversational Korean, which I read abominably slowly, and spell badly; read/write Latin at the level of atrophying Wheelock; a little Italian; two days' worth of knowledge of beginning Japanese phonology, grammar, and phrases; and random words and phrases, hideously pronounced, in Welsh, Irish Gaelic, Turkish, Spanish, Hebrew, Albanian, Portuguese, Kreyol (Haitian creole), and Tagalog.

Boyfriend or girlfriend? Husband, actually: Joseph Charles Betzwieser, but we all call him Joe. If you can't pronounce his last name, you're alone. I remain a Lee, which sidesteps my having to spell the thing for others. (Sorry, dear.) We have a daughter, who is known as the lizard. Don't ask.

Favourite food(s): Edible. I'm fond of lobster, gimchi boggeumbap (Korean), chicken satay and pad thai (Thai), lemon beef and pho (Vietnamese), Szechwan crispy chicken, fortune cookies, lemon sorbet, Corvette-flavored cupcakes (ask me for the story behind that sometime), and...and...

Favourite beverage(s): Chai, Thai iced tea, agua de jamaica, Samatha's raspberry juice blend, Odwalla lime juice, smoothies, Jamba juice, various full leaf teas, plum tea, citron tea, Tazoberry tea, and just plain orange juice. I'm not a coffee drinker.
